Note: There will be three workshop tracks that will run concurrently. The two Scan Lab tracks are for those attendees interested in learning more about testing protocols, scanning techniques, and instrumentation. Each Scan Lab track will include 2 one-hour sessions so attendees can participate in both tracks. The Vascular Lab Interpretation and RPVI Review track will provide an overview of physical principles, clinical applications, image interpretation, and reporting.

Workshop A: Scan Lab: Carotid Duplex and Transcranial Doppler

  • Review basic and advanced techniques of carotid duplex scanning through demonstrations by technologist faculty and opportunities for hands-on practice.
  • Discuss carotid duplex interpretation points with physician faculty.
  • Observe the technique for transcranial Doppler and the intracranial cerebrovascular examination.

Workshop B: Scan Lab: Mesenteric Duplex, Renal Duplex and EVAR Follow-up

  • Review basic and advanced techniques of abdominal vascular scanning through demonstrations by technologist faculty and opportunities for hands-on practice.
  • Discuss interpretation points with physician faculty, including stented vs. native renal and mesenteric arteries.
  • Describe the protocol for duplex follow-up after EVAR and the typical ultrasound features of endoleaks.

  • Discuss interpretation points with physician faculty, including abdominal venous compression syndromes and pelvic venous disorders.
  • Observe the duplex evaluation of varicose veins and perforator veins.
  • Review the protocol, technique, and equipment for the standing reflux evaluation with distal cuff deflation.

  • Review the arterial anatomy of the lower leg and foot and related duplex scanning technique used to classify pedal artery flow waveforms based on acceleration time.
  • Discuss interpretation points with physician faculty, including native lower extremity arteries, bypass grafts, and peripheral artery stents.
